Brahms – A German Requiem
Finzi – Lo, the Full Final Sacrifice
Two much-loved classics of the choral repertoire. The requiem, written in Brahms’ native German, using words from Luther’s translation of the Bible, seeks to bring comfort to those who mourn. We will be using Brahms’ own accompaniment for two pianists.
Finzi’s anthem is a lively and beautiful celebration of the Eucharist.
From June 2020 to July 2021 we rehearsed on Zoom, due to the pandemic. We produced five online performances, recorded by singers individually at home, and blended into a virtual choir by Gareth Howell:
Virtual Choir – Kyrie from Rheinberger’s Mass in E flat for double choir
Virtual Choir – Ring the Bells for Christmas
Virtual Choir – Jingle Bells
Virtual Choir – Faure’s Cantique de Jean Racine
Virtual choir – Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus
